From a farmhouse to a loft

REQUEST

Change radically an old farmhouse , including also the barn , into a loft perfectly mixing the modernity of its new architectural inserts with the tradition of the original mold. The biggest challenge was to use very bright and contrasting colors as requested by the client( a motorcycle collector and an enthusiast of the “Ducati red”) , respecting the rural landscape.

SOLUCTION

In the beginning the restoration was intended only for the external area , but the attention rapidly has fallen upon the first floor of the farmhouse where the owner kept in a garage a collection of old motorcycles. This garage became a unique space which now acts as both an entrance and a living room , transformed into a big room with a mezzanine made partly breaking the garage’s ceiling. In this portion of the remaining vault the bricks were exposed cleaned and treated. The distinctive elements of this space are the cantilever glass staircase and a competition motorcycle located on a platform. We succeeded in the creation of a modern loft thanks to modern furniture, warm elements in solid wood which respect the rural origins of the farmhouse and very gutsy wall colors. All these elements created a cozy and totally homogeneous building where you can breathe the pride of a client enthusiastic of motorcycling events.
